“No matter what you choose to do, in order to be successful you need to work hard and never give up.”

What obstacles did you face and how did you overcome them?
Trying to balance my hockey endeavors with academics was the biggest obstacle I had to overcome. It was not easy trying to excel in both areas but with a lot of hard work, determination, and managing my time correctly I was able to succeed.

What or who inspired you to really go after the profession you are in now?
I credit a lot of my high school teachers for inspiring me to become a teacher. I also credit my dad who after 20 years of no formal education, returned to adult education to get his Mature Grade 12 Diploma and then to University. He graduated with Honors and also became a teacher.

What critical choices or decisions did you make that helped you get where you are today?
I chose to pursue my hockey career and academics by attending the University of Manitoba. My initial interest and goals were to further my hockey career with U of M Bisons hockey team but was able to further my education in the process. I am now in a career that I love and am grateful for all the opportunities that hockey has given me.

Message of Encouragement:
No matter what you choose to do, in order to be successful you need to work hard and never give up. I was always told by my parents to always work hard in everything I do and no matter what, never give up. I attribute my success to my parents words of advice.
