Funding

The Literacy with Information and Communication Technology (LwICT) initiative received funding for three years, starting in September 2007 and ending in June 2010.

On Monday, January 29, 2007, as part of the 2007-08 Public Schools Funding Announcement, Education, Citizenship and Youth Minister Peter Bjornson announced an increase of $1.3 million in professional learning funding.  Highlights and further details state that

"A new component of Professional Development Support is introduced to support the Literacy with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Across the Curriculum Initiative. Support is the greater of $10 per eligible pupil in Kindergarten to Grade 8 or $15,000 to assist divisions with the training of teachers to incorporate technology into the curriculum and reporting student outcomes to parents."

Details of the funding were sent to School Divisions in a letter to Superintendents dated March 2007.
