Appropriate Educational Programming (AEP)

Responsibilities and rights related to education in Manitoba are defined in the Public Schools Act and the Education Administration Act. Appropriate Educational Programming, an amendment to the Public Schools Act, confirms in legislation that all students in Manitoba, particularly those with special learning needs, are entitled to receive appropriate educational programming that fosters student participation in both the academic and social life of the school. The legislation supports Manitoba’s philosophy of inclusion.

The Standards for Appropriate Educational Programming provide direction to school divisions and educators and clarify for parents the obligation to implement appropriate educational programming for each student.
