NEW Canada Post Service Disruptions

Due to the Canada Post service disruptions, Manitoba Student Aid (MSA) stopped sending letters out through the mail effective September 26, 2025. As an interim measure, MSA will email letters to students, with physical correspondence to be sent out once the service disruption is lifted.

To submit documentation to MSA during the postal service disruption, please use one of the following methods:

  • In-person
    Manitoba Student Aid office
    401–1181 Portage Avenue
    Winnipeg, MB R3G 0T3
    Monday to Friday, 8:30 A.M. – 4:30 P.M.
  • Drop box
    Documents can be placed in the secure drop box located on the east side of the building, beside the Wall Street entrance. The drop box is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Designated drop off locations
    Beginning October 3, 2025, if you live outside Winnipeg, you can access designated drop off locations across Manitoba: Designated Distribution Centers in Manitoba for Out-of-Winnipeg clients.
  • Email
    Documents that do not require an ink signature, can be sent as an attachment to ManitobaStudentAid@gov.mb.ca. Please put your name, your file number and the name of document in the subject line of the email.
  • Courier
    You may use a courier service of your choice at your own cost.

IMPORTANT

For all submission methods other than email, please ensure the following:

  • Place documents in a clearly labeled envelope addressed to Manitoba Student Aid.
  • Write your full name and your file number on each document.

NEW Canada Student Grants Only Option for Full-Time Students

Manitoba Student Aid now offers a Canada Student Grants Only Option for full-time applicants. This option allows students to receive the federal grants they are eligible for, without taking on loan funding. For additional details, please visit the Program Updates page.

Note: This option is only available for full-time applications.

Protecting Your Personal Information

Identity theft and fraud are serious. Be careful so your personal information stays safe.

Here are some key reminders to protect your personal and financial information:

  • Submit your own application: Never let someone else apply for Manitoba Student Aid on your behalf.
  • Be careful with your personal information: Never share personal information like your SIN, student loan account details, or banking information with anyone you don’t know or trust.
  • Think before you send: Do not include sensitive and personal information such as your Social Insurance Number (SIN) or banking information in email messages.
  • Watch out for scams: Manitoba Student Aid and the organizations that handle your student loans won’t come to your home or work. Always check if a message or call is real before sharing any personal information.

IMPORTANT: If you think someone has misused your identity for to apply for Manitoba Student Aid, contact Manitoba Student Aid.

National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) Communications

If you get a message saying it's from the National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC), make sure it's real by going to the official NSLSC website before responding.

If you think it's a scam, report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre right away. Stay alert and keep your personal information safe.

The NSLSC login process for borrowers is changing

Effective May 25, 2025, National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) began using My Service Canada Account (MSCA). All students, including existing borrowers, will need an MSCA to access their NSLSC account.

If you do not have an MSCA, register today to avoid potential delays in receiving your Manitoba Student Aid funding.

If you already have an MSCA, you are all set and will be able to automatically access your NSLSC account.
