Types of Funding at a Glance
The chart below shows the type of financial assistance and short details.
Canada Student Loan (CSL)
Interest-free while you are going to school full-time. Interest starts to accumulate as soon as you stop going to school full-time. Payments start six months after you stop going to school full-time.
Manitoba Student Loan (MSL)
Interest-free while you are going to school full-time and during repayment. Payments start six months after you stop going to school full-time.
Manitoba Bursary
Students are automatically considered for this program when they submit their application for Canada and Manitoba Student Loans. Indigenous learners who self-identify may be eligible for additional Manitoba Bursary.
Canada Student Grant for Full-time Students with Dependants
Available to low-income full-time students with children under the age of 12 or persons who are wholly dependent by reason of a mental or physical infirmity.
Canada Student Grant for Full-Time Students
Available to eligible students based on their family size, previous year’s Gross Family Income, and program length.
Skills Boost Top-up to the Canada Student Grant for Full-Time Students
Students who are eligible for the Canada Student Grant for Full-Time Students and who have been out of secondary school for at least 10 years, may be eligible for an additional grant.
Canada Student Grant for Students with Disabilities
Provides non-repayable assistance to help reduce the costs facing students with permanent or persistent or prolonged disabilities when participating in a post-secondary program.
Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment — Students with Disabilities
Requires a separate application. Provides non-repayable assistance to help offset exceptional, education-related costs associated with permanent disabilities and persistent or prolonged disabilities, such as costs for a note-taker, a sign interpreter, or technical aids.
Part-time Canada Student Loan
Accumulates interest while you are in school. You can make interest-only payments while in school or make no payments until six months after your studies end.
Canada Student Grant for Part-time Studies
For students studying part-time whose family income falls within the "low-income" level as defined by the Canada Student Financial Assistance Program.
Canada Student Grant for Part-time Students with Dependants
Available to part-time students with children under the age of 12 or persons who are wholly dependent by reason of a mental or physical infirmity.
Indigenous Education Award

The Manitoba Student Aid application is now available to full-time students attending classes during the 2023-2024 application year.
