Welcome to the Manitoba Music Education Website!

This website contains information regarding the Kindergarten to Grade 12 Manitoba Music curriculum frameworks developed by the Department of Education and Training as well as implementation resources and links to support the Music curricula.

Arts Education Grant Program for 2023/2024

Teachers are invited to apply for funding (maximum of $500) for creative projects in dance, drama, music and visual arts. The deadline for submission is October 20, 2023. Forms and more details are available on the Arts Education Grant Program's webpage.

Frameworks of Outcomes

Music ButterflyThe overarching goal of the music curriculum is to support, nurture, and inspire the growth of every student as a musician and as an artful learner.

The Music Butterfly represents the Music curriculum framework which is based on four interrelated essential learning areas. The essential learning areas are further detailed by connected sets of general and specific learning outcomes.

The Music Pictures of Practice bring the Manitoba Music curriculum framework to life with illustrations of various Music teaching and learning contexts in authentic Manitoba classrooms.

Arts Education Learning Resources

Recommended Music learning resources for use in Manitoba classrooms are available for Kindergarten to Grade 8 and are in development for Grades 9-12.
