Professional School Personnel Certification in Manitoba

Professional school personnel include the classroom teacher, school clinician, school administrator, special education teacher, special education coordinator, school counsellor, and vocational teacher.

Certification of Professional School Personnel is a provincial responsibility therefore the requirements for certification differ from province to province.

A valid Manitoba Teaching or School Clinician Certificate is required to be employed as professional school personnel in Manitoba.

Effective October, 2021, Post-Secondary education completed outside of Canada or the United States of America requires a course-by-course (ICAP) evaluation by the World Education Services (WES). This course-by-course evaluation must be mailed directly to the Professional Certification Unit (PCU) from WES. Manitoba Education System

Teaching is a regulated profession in Canada. Each province and territory has its own regulator and certification requirements.

The Professional Certification Unit (PCU) receives all applications for certification in Manitoba as a teacher or a school clinician.

Manitoba teaching and school clinician certification requirements are outlined in the Teaching Certificates and Qualifications Regulation 115/2015 of the Education Administration Act.

Fees for teaching and school clinician certification services are outlined in the Education Certificates, Transcripts and Miscellaneous Fees Regulation 86/2010.
