In the English Program, the Middle Years compulsory subject areas consist of arts education, English language arts, mathematics, physical education/health education, science, and social studies. The following curriculum framework and foundation for implementation documents are available for the compulsory subject areas. Most of the documents are available online.
Recommended subject area time allotments for the Middle Years are identified for the
School Leaders’ Guide to Middle Years Curricula provides school leaders with an overview and a summary of curriculum information and outcomes. The document includes information about the six Middle Years Compulsory Subject Areas.
The website My Child in School: A Resource for Parents provides parents with information about what their children are learning in compulsory subject areas from Grades 5 to 8 in the English Program.

The Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning Contacts website provides contact information for staff in all areas of responsibility within the department. The search function allows you to search for an individual by name, title, or area of responsibility (e.g., subject area consultants, code of conduct director, Deaf and hard of hearing coordinator).
