Does a nomination package always require two nomination letters?
Yes, each nomination package must include two nomination letters. These letters should address the criteria for the award category.
If the nominee’s immediate supervisor* is one of the nominators providing a nomination letter, the Supervisor’s Nomination Support Form is not needed.
* For most award categories, the immediate supervisor is the principal. For the Outstanding School Leader Award and the Nello Altomare Award, it is the superintendent or assistant superintendent.
Is the submission deadline flexible?
No, nomination packages sent by fax, email or hand delivery after the deadline will not be accepted. Mailed nomination packages postmarked on the day of the deadline will be accepted if they are complete.
Will a nomination package that is still missing documents or signatures after the deadline be considered?
No, a nomination package missing documentation or signatures after the deadline will not be considered. It is recommended that packages be submitted a week before the deadline. This gives the department time to inform nominators about any missing parts.
When will nominees know whether they were selected to receive an award?
Nominees will be notified in March whether they have been selected for an award. The nominators, school principal and superintendent (if applicable) will receive a copy of the notification.
Can a retiree be nominated for an award?
To be eligible, the nominee must be actively working in a school on a daily basis at the time of nomination.
