What's New
Manitoba government issued a call for applications to parents/caregivers of students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 publicly funded schools and has reached out to the education system, Indigenous leaders, and inter-sectoral partners to recommend individuals to join the Council.
The Commitment
Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning will establish an Education Council to facilitate a province-wide approach to planning, implementing, and monitoring of Manitoba’s K to 12 Education Action Plan. The council will provide strategic guidance on the implementation of the action plan; create a forum to raise, discuss, and plan for issues facing children, families, teachers, school staff, and early childhood educators; advise how Manitoba can improve student achievement and well-being across the education sector; and, promote inter-sectoral engagement, collaboration, and partnership.
What This Means for Manitobans
The Education Council provides a structured forum for educational partners and others who have a vested interest in the success and future of Manitoba’s children and youth in order to share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives on continuous improvement that enhances student achievement and well-being.
Next Steps
- The department will provide orientation to Education Council members and host the inaugural Education Council meeting.
- Terms of reference will be finalized at the first meeting in January 2023.
