Attendance Task Force

The Attendance Task Force work has concluded with the establishment of the School and Community Support Unit within Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning.

The Task Force was instrumental in the development of an attendance policy directive and action plan to enhance student presence and engagement. The Task Force also helped develop a public education campaign to increase awareness and public discourse around roles and responsibilities. We thank the Attendance Task Force for the guidance, recommendations, and initiatives to address chronic absenteeism.

Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning will continue to engage experts in the community as needed, such as advocates and community members, organizations and Indigenous governments. As well, we will utilize existing tables to continue to support the attendance strategy such as the Student Advisory Council, Manitoba Advocate for Children and Youth, Student Services Inclusive Education Consultative Committee and the Deputy Minister’s Table including health, social service, justice and K to 12 education portfolios.

Miigwech, Ékosani, Masi Cho, Pidamiye, Maatna, Marsii, Thank you, Merci for your dedication to support student presence and engagement in schools.
