Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee for Literacy with ICT Across the Curriculum ran from ? - ? and during that time, advise the Assistant Deputy Minister of Bureau de l’éducation française (BEF) and the Assistant Deputy Minister of School Programs Division (SPD), on matters related to Literacy with ICT (LwICT) in K-12 education.

Terms of Reference
The following are the terms of reference on which the Advisory Committee for Literacy with ICT operates:

  1. Reviews and provides advice on the implementation of the policy for Literacy with ICT, including priorities, timelines, sequencing of actions and communication with the field and/or parent community.
  2. Reviews Departmental updates and status reports; provides advice or suggests changes to the implementation process.
  3. Facilitates inter-organizational collaboration and assists in the coordination of complementary efforts that support the development of student literacy with ICT.
  4. Shares research, information and perspectives about current and future needs with respect to the development of student literacy with ICT.

Composition of the Advisory Committee

The advisory committee included representatives from both Manitoba Education and educational partner organizations as follows:

  • Council of School Leaders (COSL)
  • Division scolaire franco-manitobaine (DSFM)
  • Council of Deans and Directors of Education Manitoba (CODDEM)
  • Manitoba Association for Computing Educators (ManACE)
  • Manitoba Association of School Superintendents (MASS)
  • Manitoba Association of Education Technology Leaders (MAETL), (formerly CECM)
  • Manitoba Education Research and Learning Information Networks (MERLIN)
  • Manitoba School Library Association (MSLA)
  • Manitoba Teachers’ Society (MTS)
  • Manitoba Education is represented by 2 staff members: 1 from LSTU and 1 from BEF

Term

Committee members were requested to serve for 3 years.

Operational Details

Meetings were scheduled 2 to 4 times per school year or as required. The Assistant Deputy Ministers appointed the chairperson. Manitoba Education and Trainig reimbursed the members of the Advisory Committee for all costs associated with attendance at the Advisory Committee meetings.
