Education Stakeholder Engagement - Global Competency
To further the implementation of a provincial global competency approch to curriculum, the department is looking to engage treachers in a working group of up to 30 members to develop support resources to guide their planning.
Request: Superintendents, directors of First Nations Education Authorities and Tribal Councils, and principals of Funded Independent Schools are asked to share this request with their teaching staffs.
Project: Framework for Learning and Global Competencies Support Resources Development
Project deliverables:
- Stories of practice/pictures of practice across all core curriculum for a range of grade levels.
- Teacher support documents for the provincial implementation of Manitoba's Global Competencies
Skills and areas of expertise:
- An understanding of Manitoba's Global Competencies and a passion for supporting all teachers to embed them in their practices.
- Classroom experience in inclusive practices (e.g. Indigenous Perspectives, equitable and inclusive education, newcomer perspective).
- A range of Kindergarten to Grade 12 subject area experiences and expertiese across early, middle, and senior years.
Expectations of participants and time commitment:
- Teacher participants will:
- Engage in two days of in-person work (one day in July and one day in August, 2023) and one day of independent work (at their discretion). Please note, that those who have not attended the Framework for Learning Implementation Sessions or the Global Competency Working Group sessions will participate in one additional in-person day for learning in July 2023.
- Review and provide feedback on support documents related to the implementation of the Global Competencies.
- Develop several stories of practices in a variety of modes-written exemplars, pictures of practice, and potential responses in video interviews.
Compensation: The department will provide working group participants a daily fee for service.
