Healthy Schools Grant

Background

The Healthy Schools Grant is provided to assist school divisions in their efforts to build healthy school communities.  The Healthy Schools Initiative is rooted in comprehensive school health, an internationally recognized framework for supporting improvements in students’ educational outcomes while addressing school health in a planned, integrated and holistic way.  School divisions are encouraged to use the Comprehensive School Health Framework when planning and implementing Healthy Schools initiatives.

Healthy Schools initiatives should align with the 6 priority healthy topics of Healthy Schools:

  • healthy eating
  • mental health
  • physical activity
  • safety and injury prevention
  • sexual health
  • substance abuse and addictions

The Healthy Schools Initiative is a partnership between 3 departments – Health, Healthy Living and Seniors, Education and Advanced Learning, and Children and Youth Opportunities (Healthy Child).  For more information, please visit the Healthy Schools website.
