This website contains information regarding the Kindergarten to Grade 12 Manitoba Visual Arts curriculum frameworks developed by the Department of Education and Training as well as implementation resources and links to support the Visual Arts curricula.



Arts Education Grant Program for 2023/2024

Teachers are invited to apply for funding (maximum of $500) for creative projects in dance, drama, music and visual arts. The deadline for submission is October 20, 2023. Forms and more details are available on the Arts Education Grant Program's webpage.


Frameworks of Outcomes

Visual Arts ButterflyThe overarching goal of the visual arts curriculum is to support, nurture, and inspire the growth of every student as a young artist and as an artful learner.

The Visual Arts Butterfly represents the Visual Arts curriculum framework which is based on four interrelated essential learning areas.  The essential learning areas are further detailed by connected sets of general and specific learning outcomes.

The Visual Arts Pictures of Practice bring the Manitoba Visual Arts curriculum framework to life with illustrations of various Visual Arts teaching and learning contexts in authentic Manitoba classrooms.


Arts Education Learning Resources

Recommended Visual Arts learning resources for use in Manitoba classrooms are available for Kindergarten to Grade 8 and are in development for Grades 9-12.
