Online Learning Resources

The following websites or apps can also help you support your child’s learning in a French language environment. Have your child visit some of these sites, listen and read, and interact in French. It is not important that they understand every word, but the exposure to the French language will help with their development. It they have questions, they can always talk to their teacher.

This site provides an overview of major concepts for each grade and compulsory subject area for Manitoba K-12 students. This website has a variety of educational games for different age groups. The interface is French, but the site is easy to navigate and the games are self-explanatory.

Duolingo Kids
Duolingo kids is a free app that can be downloaded on a mobile device, tablet or Chromebook to help children learn a language, in this case French.

Lulu la taupe
This website offers a variety of educational games for younger children. The website is in French, but is easy to navigate.

The French Experiment
This website includes audio stories. The "English translation" option is available for parents to help them follow. It also has a variety of French lessons, from counting in French to the days of the week, to French idioms and expressions.

Mathematics (Numeracy)

AquaMath
AquaMath is an interactive website for grades 3 and 4. Students will be able to practice concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions. Different levels of difficulty are offered and a read over is available.

This web site lists a variety of rhymes and songs listed in alphabetical order. Several musical scores are also available and, sometimes, even short videos.

Agents en noir, aligned with the Manitoba Mathematics Curriculum, is a site that offers grade 6 students a variety of animations that explain concepts of mathematics as well as problems to be solved.
