Distance Learning

Independent Study Option

Distance Learning Opportunities Announcement

The Manitoba government is pleased to announce plans to expand InformNet, Manitoba’s only fully online high school, in order to provide a province-wide platform for remote learning. We believe that this teacher-directed learning will offer an improved distance learning experience to students throughout Manitoba. In addition, in order to benefit students with no/low Internet connectivity, funding for the Teacher Mediated Option has been expanded.

As part of this expansion of services, Manitoba will be phasing out the Independent Study Option (ISO). Registrations will wind down and will not be accepted after December 30, 2020. ISO students currently registered with the Distance Learning Unit will remain registered until June 18, 2021, and will have the opportunity to complete their current courses. They can also register now for InformNet winter courses, which will begin in February. Students who have already registered but who wish to transfer into the winter courses for this year can do so by contacting the Distance Learning Unit, which will complete this transfer on their behalf.

It is important that all students review the course deadlines. Please see the Frequently Asked Questions for more information.
