Dakota Collegiate (DC) staff have donated fabric, time, and energy to a great cause—sewing surgical caps for frontline health-care workers. There has been an ongoing demand for these DC caps, as they not only allow workers to keep their hair protected, but they also have buttons on the sides to relieve workers ears from the stress of mask straps. So far, DC and the Louis Riel School Division have made more than 75 caps (and counting), while facilitating the drop-off of more than 500 caps (and counting) with help from Bell MTS volunteers. These caps have gone to St. Boniface Hospital, Main Street Project, Health Sciences Centre, and to ambulance paramedics. This is part of a Manitoba-wide total of more than 7,000 caps distributed to date.
