What's New

The 2022/23 Report of the Student Advisory Council (PDF Document 2 MB) has been released. The report is a reflection of the council’s collective effort in providing insight on a variety of topics that effect the student experience. Topics include remote learning, curriculum renewal, teacher misconduct, student engagement and youth leadership, school leadership, poverty in education, and the Access to Menstrual Products Initiative.

The Commitment

The role of the Student Advisory Council is to bring forward student perspectives and provide insights and advice on issues and topics that are current and emerging for Manitoba Kindergarten to Grade 12 (K–12) students. Council members share their experiences and valuable insights to ensure a vibrant future for Manitoba’s K to 12 education system.

What This Means for Manitobans

Students are at the heart of Manitoba’s education system, and their opinions play an important role in the decisions that affect them. The council ensures Manitoba students from across the province have a platform to contribute their voices in shaping the education system in Manitoba.

What We’ve Done

Successive councils have each produced a report to the Minister of Education and Early Childhood learning. Both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 reports can be found below.

Next Steps

  • The 2023/24 council members will participate in discussions and consultations to provide input on various aspects of the education system and how they affect the children and young people who use them.
