In partnership with Manitoba Families, review interdepartmental protocols to guide student and school transitions.

The Commitment

The Manitoba government is committed to success of all Manitoba students, including working with our interdepartmental partners in sharing information across sectors to support successful transitions throughout the K-12 school years from school entry to transitioning to adulthood.

What This Means for Manitobans

Bridging to Adulthood: A Protocol for Transitioning Students with Exceptional Needs from School to Community (2023) guides transition planning partners in the planning process for timely access to available adult supports and services.

What We’ve Done

In partnership with the Department of Families, phase one of the review and renewal of Bridging to Adulthood: A Protocol for Transitioning Students with Exceptional Needs from School to Community (2008) is complete. This first renewal phase reflects a factual update of the document to reflect current names of departments, programs and available services.

Next Steps

In partnership, the Department of Education and Early Childhood Learning and the Department of Families, will support a more substantial content update (Phase 2) of this interdepartmental protocol which will include consultation and engagement with stakeholders.
