Dr. Helen D. Armstrong

AERF Planning Committee Member

Helen D. Armstrong is a Professor Emerita from Brandon University, Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. Her theoretical and field based research into organizational theory and the learning organization supported her later work as her expertize morphed into indigenizing curriculum. With support from a federal SSHRC/CURA grant entitled Community-Based Aboriginal Curriculum Initiatives, she worked with Manitoba First Nations and public schools to support the integration of community knowledge-keepers, Indigenous literature, and other resources into schools in order to meet curricular outcomes. Part of that work involved the creation of an Aboriginal Curriculum Initiatives Centre (ACIC), now housed within the Brandon University John E. Robbins Library, which is celebrated as having one of the largest collections of indigenous literature in North America.

We are pleased that Dr. Armstrong was a member of the Planning Committee bringing her knowledge and expertise.
