“It is worth it in the end to have the knowledge we gain as ECEs. It will pay off in so many ways.”

What obstacles did you face and how did you overcome them?
I have sought out traditional and western ways of healing to support myself and my family through mental health struggles, and to support and walk alongside family members who battle addictions.

Who or what inspired you to really go after the profession you are in now?
The childhood I had, I believe, led me to this profession. We were a poor Metis family and all the stereotypes that go along with it. I wanted to break that cycle.

What critical choices or decisions did you make that helped you get where you are today?
I had to make the decision to go to school or be home while working and taking care of my hubby who had a heart malfunction and needed surgery. We got through it!

Message of Encouragement:
If you are a person who loves being with/working with people/animals, keep going. It is worth it in the end to have the knowledge we gain as ECEs. It will pay off in so many ways.
