In 2000, the Premier’s Youth Round Table was held at Rural Forum in Brandon and prompted youth participants to call for regular meetings with the Premier and Ministers. As a result, since 2001, the MB4Youth Division of Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth (MECY) have hosted eight Manitoba Youth Town Hall Meetings with Ministers in Brandon, Thompson, and Winnipeg.
The Town Hall provides youth with the opportunity to raise questions and have interactive conversations with various Cabinet Ministers. The Ministers are given the opportunity to hear from youth on issues of concern and consider them when planning their departmental programs and policies.
Each year, Senior 3 and 4 students from schools throughout the province are invited and up to five Cabinet Ministers are in attendance. After each Town Hall, a final report is prepared and posted. See below for the latest and other past reports.
