RE: Technical Vocational Initiative Demonstration Projects (2009-2010)
Dear Colleagues:
The Technical Vocational Initiate (TVI) will provide funding for Demonstration Projects in Manitoba schools for the 2009-2010 school year. Funding applies to new projects as well as second year funding for continuing projects. This letter provides information about the application process and eligibility criteria for 2009-2010 projects.
Demonstration Project funding is intended to provide support to schools, school divisions and their educational partners to explore and implement innovative approaches for offering relevant technical vocational and career-based education to Manitoba youth.
The current global economic downturn notwithstanding, Manitoba continues to require a skilled, innovative and adaptable workforce, and demographic realities indicate that the demand for new workers will continue. Our young people need to develop the skills and attitudes to become productively engaged and compete in a modern economy. The Technical Vocational Initiative will provide funding to support innovative approaches to address relevant education and training issues.
Consideration will be given to projects that identify specific, tangible outcomes that will become sustainable. Creativity and strategic partnerships are key components to receive funding.
