Job Placement

Partners for Careers - our core business is job placement with an emphasis on First Nation, Metis, Inuit graduates of High School, college, University and specialized training. The work of placing graduates is delivered by contracted delivery agencies: all 10 rural Friendship Centres - call in Winnipeg, 942-6299 or o to www.mac.mb.ca; and Staffing Solutions at the Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development (CAHRD) - call in Winnipeg, 989-7122 or go to www.cahrd.org.

Single Source for Information on Programs, Initiatives and Community Resources

The office of the Executive Director of Partners for Careers operates this "signpost" to services. A storefront, accessible resource centre, offers information on all the programs and services, agencies and initiatives, government programs, etc. available. As a referral service, we help Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people sort through the wealth of programs related to employment, training, education and community supports (housing, recreation) and we direct them to those services. As of April 2005, we have a new location at 510 Selkirk Avenue - the Murdo Scribe Centre - will be shared space with staff from Employment Manitoba and the Aboriginal Education Directorate. We also have representatives from the Apprenticeship Branch and Student Aid here on a rotating basis. We work to connect with schools and area programs to share our information directly with them. Guide to Winnipeg for Aboriginal Newcomers

The Partners for Careers' Guide to Winnipeg for Aboriginal Newcomers is supplied free of charge to Aboriginal client-serving agencies. As Aboriginal people move to Winnipeg, whether for a short or a long time, we have created this guide to assist them in getting connected to the larger community. Information is included on housing, transportation, shopping, cultural organizations and much more. Just call 945-0447 to order free copies for your own use or several copies for your organization.

Aboriginal Youth Mean Business!

Partners for Careers hosts an annual event that brings together services that support Aboriginal entrepreneurship and connects those organizations with the youth who are exploring business ownership as a way to serve their communities and their peers. Youth who are at al stages of starting or operating a business can connect to the many services that exist i Manitoba to help them start or grow their business.
