Purpose/Goals
The CITI Project is committed to
- building electronic resources for Manitoba teachers
- supporting implementation of CITI resources through province-wide professional learning sessions
The goals of the CITI project are to
- build on successful models for integrating information technology learning resources into Manitoba curricula (i.e., Curriculum/Multimedia Integration Project, Interdisciplinary Middle Years Multimedia Project, Computer Guided Learning Projects, and Distance Education Projects)
- provide linkages between core-curricular outcomes, and information technology skills and competencies so that information technology becomes a meaningful part of resource-based learning in Manitoba
- conduct field validation of selected information technologies and associated instructional and assessment strategies
Building Electronic Resources for Manitoba Teachers
To realize the vision of technology as a foundation skill, Manitoba teachers and curriculum developers require resources that integrate the information technology skills and competencies found in Technology as a Foundation Skill (TFS) with core-curricular outcomes. Electronic resources allow teachers to access information technology-enhanced instructional and assessment strategies, interactively. The CITI electronic resource is called the Curriculum Navigator (CN).
The Curriculum Navigator is now available to support Kindergarten to Grade 4. Support for Grades 5 to 8 will be released later in 2002.
Supporting Implementation of the Curriculum Navigator through Province-wide Professional Learning Sessions
The CITI Project will maximize the impact of the CITI electronic resources by building local capacity within schools and school divisions/districts. Professional learning, in the form of inservice sessions, will be initiated by Manitoba Education and Youth, and communicated in the annual Year at a Glance (YAG) documents as CITI resources are released online.
