Curriculum Information for Parents
FRENCH IMMERSION PROGRAM
GRADE 9 to GRADE 12

Welcome, parents!

Transition to Senior Years requires students and parents to make important decisions that affect future plans. Courses selection is one of those decisions. The purpose of this site is to explain the course choices and provide you with information about what your child is learning in each course.

Manitoba's Senior Years or high school programming comprises four grades — Senior 1 to Senior 4 (Grade 9 to Grade 12). To graduate, students must achieve 28 credits over the four years. Manitoba Education and Youth specifies 19 compulsory credits. Students have several options in selecting courses to satisfy the other 9 credits.

The information about compulsory courses is organized by grade and by subject area:

  • English LA - Immersion
  • Français langue seconde - immersion
  • Mathematics
  • Physical Education/Health Education
  • Science
  • Social Studies

In addition to reviewing the basic curriculum information provided here, you are encouraged to discuss specific details about your child's programming — such as course selection and use of textbooks and other learning resources — with the subject area teachers and guidance counsellor.

Working toward the success of all learners is our first priority. We encourage teachers to use a variety of strategies to make all students feel welcome at school and to meet the wide range of needs in their classrooms.
