Advisory Committee Terms of Reference

The Advisory Committee for Literacy with ICT Across the Curriculum advises the Assistant Deputy Minister of Bureau de l’éducation française (BEF) and the Assistant Deputy Minister of School Programs Division (SPD), on matters related to literacy with ICT (LwICT) in K-12 education.

The following are the terms of reference on which the Advisory Committee for Literacy with ICT operates:

  1. Reviews and provides advice on the implementation of the policy for Literacy with ICT, including priorities, timelines, sequencing of actions and communication with the field and/or parent community.
  2. Reviews Departmental updates and status reports and provides advice or suggest changes to the implementation process.
  3. Facilitates inter-organizational collaboration and assists in the coordination of complementary efforts that support the development of student literacy with ICT.
  4. Shares research, information and perspectives about current and future needs with respect to the development of student literacy with ICT.

Composition of the Advisory Committee

The advisory committee includes representatives from both Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth (MECY), and educational partner organizations as follows:

  • Computer Education Coordinators of Manitoba (CECM)  
  • Council of School Leaders (COSL)
  • Division scolaire franco-manitobaine (DSFM)
  • Council of Deans and Directors of Education Manitoba (CODDEM)
  • Manitoba Association for Computing Educators (ManACE)
  • Manitoba Association of School Superintendents (MASS)
  • Manitoba Education Research and Learning Information Networks (MERLIN)
  • Manitoba School Library Association (MSLA)
  • Manitoba Teachers’ Society (MTS)
  • MECY is represented by 2 staff members: 1 from LSU and 1 from BEF

Term

Committee members are requested to serve for 3 years.

Operational Details

Meetings are scheduled 2 to 4 times per school year or as required. The Assistant Deputy Ministers appoint the chairperson. MECY reimburses the members of the Advisory Committee for all costs associated with attendance at the Advisory Committee meetings.
