Determination of Eligibility for Funding and the Application Process -- September 30th --

At the School Division:

• Compile all funding applications from the schools in your division.
• Review all applications.
• Prescreen applications to determine eligibility for categorical funding.
• Ensure applications are completed in full:
  
  
  • Signatures of parent, principal and student services administrator.
  • Attendance Information.
  • School for year applied for.
  • Grade for year applied for.
  • Resources and specific interventions provided.
  • Cost statements for the resources required for all Level III applications. Do not include costs for services in which you receive support through other means (e.g. transportation, classroom teachers, resource teachers, etc.).
• Ensure unnecessary supporting documentation is not included.
  
  
  • Manitoba Education are authorized to collect only as much student personal information as is reasonably necessary to accomplish its authorized purpose (s. 36(2) FIPPA) and therefore, must ensure that each piece of student personal information that it collects is necessary for the purpose of determining a school division's entitlement to receive Special Needs Categorical Funding Level II and III.
• Complete Divisional Summary Form:
  
  
  • Ensure the summary sheet is completed in full (see pages 7 - 8 for sample form and explanation of terminology).
• For school divisions who chose a preliminary funding period in the Spring, ensure summary form includes the following:
  
  
  • Students transferring in from a different school division who were approved for funding in the Spring round or have multi-year funding.
  • Students who received Multi-year funding.
  • Deletions for all students who were approved for funding in the preliminary round who have left your school division.
• For school divisions who chose to not have a preliminary funding period in the spring, ensure summary form includes the following:
  
  
  • All students applied for.
  • Students transferring in from a different school division who were approved for funding in the Spring Preliminary Funding round or have multi-year funding.
  • Students who received multi-year funding for your school division
• Forward completed package including Level III URIS and EBD applications to the Funding Review Team, 204-1181 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0T3, by the deadline date provided on the Notification of Funding Letter distributed to school divisions.
