School Bus Drivers' Handbook

The School Bus Drivers' Handbook (Adobe Icon 15 MB) is a publication produced by the Pupil Transportation Unit (PTU). Its purpose is to provide school bus drivers with “best known” practices for the safe, efficient, economical, and adequate operation of the school bus vehicle.

Manitoba School Bus Pre-Trip Inspection Video

The Pupil Transportation Unit has produced a Manitoba School Bus Pre-Trip Inspection Video. This visual tool can be used to assist school bus driver instructors as they teach trainees who are in the process of becoming school bus drivers. This training video could also be used by school divisions at school bus driver inservices to review with current drivers the importance of proper pre-trip inspections.

Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Publications

On November 1, 2016, updated CSA D250-16 came into effect.  This version contains chassis and body requirements for regular school buses, and requirements for accessible school buses (wheelchair buses).  New to the 2016 version is inclusion of standards for Multi-Functional Activity Buses (previously CSA D270).  The Standard can be ordered through CSA's website.
