Professional Certification

Level 1 or Level 2 Administrator

A valid Manitoba certificate must be held in order to be employed as professional school personnel in Manitoba.

NOTE: The Level 1 and 2 Administrator certificate will be discontinued as of September 1, 2017. The certificate in School Leadership has been implemented.

There are two levels of administrator certificates:

Level 1 School Administrator's Certificate
Level 2 Principal's Certificate

Manitoba Regulation115/2015 of The Education Administration Act recognizes two levels of certificates. Currently, these certificates are not required in order to accept an administrative position; however, school divisions are encouraged to select those who have or who may qualify for the above certificates.
