WebExport - MARC Records
As part of its new initiatives and expansion of resource sharing and support services, the Instructional Resources Unit provides complimentary delivery of customized MARC records to school libraries in Manitoba. WebExport enables Manitoba school library community to benefit from IRU's uniquely selected resources as well as providing access to selected target libraries through Z39.50 function.
To use WebExport please visit IRU OPAC and simply follow the steps below for searching, saving, and exporting MARC records from the IRU catalogue to your local desktop system.
- Log on to the OPAC with your WebExport user ID and password
- Perform a search to obtain a list of records you want
- Check the check box and select the records you want to export
- Click on "Save" button
- Click on the "Basket" button to move the records to your basket area
- Click on "Export " button
- Enter your WebExport password in the box
- Click on "Start the export" button
- When prompted save the resulting file on your local system
- After downloading, the system displays a message indicating that the export has been completed.
- Click on the "Basket Manager" that shows records have been exported and the basket is inactive.

The MARC records are exported in predefined standard tags. To see the list of tags, (
12 KB) click the link. The MARC records in the IRU database are mainly in English. To access MARC records for French material, please contact Direction des ressources educatives françaises (DREF).
Disclaimer: Not all bibliographic records from IRU or other Z39.50 sites will meet recognized MARC and cataloguing standards.
