Arrangement & Description of the Collection
Arrangement
Arrangement of the Collection is based upon an in-house classification system. The system was designed in order to keep materials together based both on subject and format. The classification system also reflects the progressively different formats of curriculum guidelines. All archive materials are stored on-site.
Description
Each archival holding is assigned a call number. The call number reflects that the material is located within the Archives as well as their major format heading. There are eight major format headings within the classification system:
- Authorized Textbooks, K-12 (AT)
- Curriculum Guides and Programmes of Studies (AC and PS)
- Periodicals (AP)
- Media (AM)
- Other Educational Materials from the Department of Education (AE)
- Supplementary Materials (AS)
- Rare Monographs (AR)
- Miscellaneous Materials (AA)
Each of these codes is then followed, for the majority of records, by:
- Subject or material code
- Holding number
- Volume, year, and/or copy number
Example: "School
Curriculum and Teachers' Guide, Grades I-VI - Geography"
Call Number: Archives AC/G 01/1931
