Funding Formula — English Program

French: Communication and Culture

Grade 4 to 12

  • $90 per full-time equivalency (FTE) for all students enrolled in the course where the percentage instruction time in French is greater than or equal to the recommended2, percentage of instruction time up to a maximum of 13.3%
  • $45 per FTE, if the percentage of instruction time in French is less than the recommended percentage

The minimum percentage of instructional time is as follows:
  • Grades 4 to 6, a minimum of thirty (30) minutes per day (150 minutes of French instruction per 5-day cycle or 180 minutes per 6-day cycle) is recommended. Based on a 300 minute school day, this represents a percentage of instructional time of 10.0%.
  • Grades 7 and 8, a minimum of thirty-five (35) minutes per day (175 minutes of French instruction per 5-day cycle or 210 minutes per 6-day cycle) is recommended. Based on a 330 minute school day, this represents a percentage of instructional time of 10.6%.
  • Grades 9 to 12, to meet the minimum requirement of 110 hours of French instruction per credit, a minimum of 36.5 minutes per day (165 minutes per 5-day cycle or 198 minutes per 6-day cycle) is recommended. Based on a 330 minute school day, this represents a percentage of instructional time of 11.0%.
