Manitoba's Excellence in Education Awards

Nomination Process

The following persons, with direct knowledge of the nominee’s contribution, can nominate or endorse the nomination of an eligible educator:

  • student
  • parent/legal guardian
  • colleague
  • school administrator
  • school division administrator
  • trustee

Please note that either the nominator or the endorser must be an educator from the nominee’s school personnel or an administrator from the school division. Self-nominations will not be accepted. A nominee may only be nominated in one category. Award recipients can be renominated after a five-year period.

The nominator is responsible to coordinate the nomination process by:

  • identifying a nominee
  • completing the Nomination Support Form by the Nominator
  • identifying an endorser such as a colleague, parent, administrator, etc. who will endorse the nomination and complete the Nomination Support Form by the Endorser
  • obtaining a letter of support (on school or school division letterhead) from the award nominee’s supervisor confirming and supporting the nomination. (This letter is not required if the school administrator – or the school division administrator in the case of the nomination of a principal – is the nominator or endorser.)
  • obtaining a photocopy of the award nominee’s valid, permanent Manitoba teaching certificate
  • completing the Award Nomination Form and obtaining signatures from the endorser, the nominee, and the principal (or the supervisor in the case of the nomination of a principal) after they have reviewed the content of the nomination package

Nominators must submit a complete nomination package with all appropriate forms to the jury by the submission deadline.

The jury may include representatives from:

  • Manitoba School Boards Association
  • Manitoba Association of Parent Councils
  • Manitoba Federation of Independent Schools
  • Manitoba Education and Training
