Minister's Awards
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
In all four award categories, nominations are open to educators with a valid, permanent Manitoba teaching certificate who work directly with students in a school setting on a daily basis.
- Teaching Excellence Award
Open to teachers who have completed at least two years of teaching in a Manitoba school.
The selection committee will look for evidence and examples that the teacher demonstrates an exemplary professional practice and a contagious enthusiasm for learning.
- Outstanding New Teacher Award
Open to new teachers with a maximum of two years teaching experience as of June 2011.
The selection committee will look for evidence and examples that the teacher is enthusiastic, dynamic and inspires both students and colleagues.
- Team Collaboration Award
Open to teams comprising a maximum of three teachers.
The selection committee will look for evidence and examples that the teachers worked collaboratively to achieve common goals that support student learning.
- Outstanding School Leader Award
Open to all principals and vice-principals.
The selection committee will look for evidence and examples that the administrator is able to incite passion and inspire the best in people around her/him, and to mobilize teams to action.
The selection committee may include representatives from:
- Manitoba School Boards Association
- Manitoba Association of Parent Councils
- Manitoba Federation or Independent Schools
- Manitoba Education
