Regular daily attendance at school by all students is essential to support student achievement and graduation. Manitoba Education published the School Attendance Report in June 2009. The research outlined recommendations to address issues related to student attendance.
Starting in February 2011, school divisions in cooperation with Manitoba Education will collect average monthly attendance for each school. This information will assist schools in planning for increased student attendance and achievement.

During the consultation process for the School Attendance in Manitoba report, there was an indication that school divisions had pupil files that were unclaimed. To facilitate the transfer of pupil files between schools in Manitoba, Manitoba Education developed a process to assist schools in locating unclaimed pupil files.
