Physical Education/Health Education

The assessment criteria and evaluation for each course will vary. A teacher is engaged with the students to facilitate their learning activities and is responsible for determining the assessment strategies used with their students. Students will be made aware of the assessment criteria when they are enrolled in a course.

Note: All web-based courses will require word processor software (such as Microsoft Word or Word Perfect) as well as an internet browser (such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari).

Grade 12 Physical Education/Health Education (40F)

Grade 11 Physical Education/Health Education (30F)

This course gives students an opportunity to learn how to take charge of their physical fitness and health, not just for the duration of this course, but for the rest of their lives. It provides the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for a physically active and healthy lifestyle.

Students under the age of 18 will require parent/guardian consent for their Physical Activity Plan as well as for Safety and Risk Management Forms.

The course is structured as follows:

  • Module 1: Physical Activity Practicum
  • Module 2: Fitness Management
  • Module 3: Mental - Emotional Health
  • Module 4: Social Impact of Sport
  • Module 5: Substance Use and Abuse Prevention

Grade 12 Physical Education/Health Education (40F)

This course focuses on physically active and healthy lifestyle concepts and practices. Students will learn about goal setting, physical fitness, nutrition, team leadership, and strategies for building healthy interpersonal relationships. It provides the opportunity to learn more about one's self and enable you to make more informed decisions about healthy, active living, which will benefit you throughout your life.

Students under the age of 18 will require parent/guardian consent for their Physical Activity Plan as well as for Safety and Risk Management Forms.
