Grade 10 Computer Science (20S) 1 credit (2005)
Computer Science courses are designed for students who may be interested in pursuing studies in science, engineering, or computer programming at college or university. In order to be successful in the course, students need to be self-directed learners and have acquired most of the skills and knowledge described at the Literacy with ICT website.

This course gives students the chance to solve problems, accomplish tasks, and express creativity by using programming techniques in Microsoft C++ Express Edition. These techniques are applicable to other programming languages. It is structured as follows:

  • Module 1: Introduction to Computer Science
  • Module 2: Introduction to Programming
  • Module 3: Control Structures
  • Module 4: Loops: Going in Circles!
  • Module 5: Functions: Piecework Programming

The following resources will be provided with the course:

  • Data CD or data files can be downloaded
  • Microsoft C++ Express Edition CD

Suggested Resources

  • Access to the internet
  • At least 5 GB of hard disk space
  • At least 64 MB of memory
  • Email program
  • Windows computer
  • Windows XP with minimum of the Service Pack 2 or Vista operating system
  • Word processor
