Teacher Mediated Option

Teacher Mediated Option (TMO) courses are offered during the school year. Courses are timetabled within the school day and are 40 minutes in duration. For 2012-2013 the TMO program will be scheduled using a semester system and classes occur 3 or 4 days within a 6 day cycle. During the two remaining days in the school cycle the students will be supervised at their respective schools and are expected to work independently outside of the scheduled teleconference times.

Instruction is provided by audio-teleconference, with Manitoba Education print based courses providing the instruction content. Some classes may also use Elluminate or other web-conferencing tools. During class time, TMO Teachers review difficult concepts and content as well as answer any questions the students might have, and pace the students according to a schedule. TMO students' assignments are completed outside the class time and submitted for marking by mail or email. TMO Teachers work with the Distance Learning Unit to distribute assignments and examinations by email, facsimile and mail. Between classes, students may have contact with the TMO Teachers by email and phone.
