Independent Study Option - Early and Middle Years

Grades 1-7 curriculum based courses and reference material can be ordered directly from the Alberta Learning Resource Centre (LRC).

Please be advised that the LRC does not provide tutoring or marking services.

The Distance Learning Unit will order and provide Grades 1 - 7 course materials for students who meet the course fee exemption criteria.

Grade 8

Please be advised that Grade 8 courses are available until June 30, 2010.

Students attending school who wish to take courses by Independent Study must ensure that the registration form is:

  • Signed by the school principal/facilitator to indicate school approval
  • Signed by a parent or guardian

Students not attending school who are of compulsory school age (7 to 15 years) must ensure that their registration form is signed by a parent or guardian. They are also required to officially register an educational plan with the:

Course Material

The Independent Study Option 8 Mathematics offers distance learning materials produced by Alberta Learning. All other Grades 8 courses are Manitoba curriculum.

There may be additional costs for texts and additional resources in some courses.

Refunds will not be issued for Mathematics 8 course material once the course is opened as it cannot be resold.
