Bairdmore Elementary School
School Division:
Pembina Trails

Project Description: Students collaborated with experts in the field of astronomy and space science to do observations, work with software and learn about careers in the field of astronomy.

Boissevain School
School Division:
Turtle Mountain

Project Description: Students worked with horticulturists from the International Peace Garden to develop their own flowerbed at the Garden.

Brock-Corydon School
School Division:
Winnipeg

Project Description: Students worked with engineers to study and build their own simple machines and complex machines.

Dr. F.W.L. Hamilton School

River East Transcona

Project Description: Students worked with meteorologists to analyze weather data they collected. They shared their findings with students from across Canada through the “Sky Watcher” program from Environment Canada.

Project Description: Students developed their own inquiry projects about plants and/or insects and had the opportunity to consult experts such as entomologists and botanists. With the help of these experts, students developed an outdoor classroom.

École Saint-Norbert Immersion

Project Description: Students created a multimedia documentary (DVD) on medial careers and technologies. Student groups met with technicians and doctors and attended a workshop at the Aboriginal Film Festival to learn about film production.

Happy Thought School

Project Description: Students studied aquatic invertebrates native to their local community with the help of an entomologist from Ducks Unlimited.

Scott Bateman Middle School

Project Description: Students worked with the Kelsey conservation district as well as the Manitoba Waterways project coordinator. They were involved in water quality testing on the Saskatchewan River in 2 different areas (upstream from a major industry and downstream from the community).

St. Adolphe School

Project Description: Students participated in an inquiry based study of a local pond ecosystem with the help of zoologists.

Westroc School
School Division:
Portage la Prairie

Project Description: The project focused on phosphorous build-up in the soil as well as algae blooms. Students worked with scientists involved in conservation and water pollution.

Winnipegosis Elementary School
School Division:
Mountain View

Project Description: A partnership between the Intermountain Conservation District and the Grade 8 classroom of Winnipegosis Elementary school was developed. The project focused on an “onsite”, hands-on experience for the students with the local watershed.
