Courses for Credit in Manitoba Schools
Students may take Grade 11 (Senior 3) and Grade 12 (Senior 4) International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP) courses to meet graduation requirements. These courses are assigned a Specialized or S course designation. The 2 in the course designation code indicates IB and AP courses (e.g., Mathematics [IB 42S], History of Art [AP 42S]).
Schools offering IB and AP courses must ensure that students do not receive credit for similar courses based on Manitoba curricula.
Students taking IB and/or AP courses to meet Grade 12 (Senior 4) credit requirements for English language arts and mathematics are required to write the provincial Grade 12 (Senior 4) standards tests in these subject areas. These tests are based on Manitoba curricula.
