Standards Tests

Policies and Procedures for Standards Tests 2009-2010
This document outlines the current policies and procedures related to the administration of the provincial standards tests at Grade 12.

Standards tests will be administered system-wide each semester in the following Grade 12 subjects:

• English Language Arts
• Français langue première 40S : Langue et communication
• Français langue seconde — immersion 40S : Langue et communication
• Applied Mathematics/Mathématiques appliquées
• Consumer Mathematics/Mathématiques du consommateur
• Pre-Calculus Mathematics/Mathématiques pré-calcul

These tests are locally marked and results count for 30% of the student's final grade.

Note: The 2010/2011 school year is the first year of voluntary implementation of the new Grade 12 mathematics curricula (details). Schools implementing new Grade 12 curricula in 2010/2011 will be required to inform the Department in the spring of 2010. (Schools will be contacted at that time for this purpose.) Schools implementing new curricula will be exempt from the respective mathematics standards tests and may be called upon to participate in pilot testing of new Grade 12 provincial tests.
