Standards Tests

Policies and Procedures for Standards Tests New!
This document outlines the current policies and procedures related to the administration of the provincial standards tests at Grade 12.

Standards tests will be administered system-wide each semester in the following Grade 12 subjects:

  • English Language Arts
  • Français langue première 40S : Langue et communication
  • Français langue seconde — immersion 40S : Langue et communication
  • Applied Mathematics/Mathématiques appliquées
  • Consumer Mathematics/Mathématiques du consommateur
  • Pre-Calculus Mathematics/Mathématiques pré-calcul

These tests are locally marked and results count for 30% of the student's final grade.

Testing Schedule

Note:  Voluntary implementation of the new Grade 12 mathematics curricula continues for the 2011/2012 school year. Schools implementing new curricula will be exempt from the respective mathematics standards tests and may be called upon to participate in pilot testing of new Grade 12 provincial mathematics achievement tests. Please note that, while the piloting process will continue, there will be no provincial math tests in 2012/2013. New provincial mathematics achievement tests will begin in the 2013/2014 school year.
