Strengthening Planning and Reporting

Further Action

Since 2002, Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth has pursued the three actions under this priority that were originally identified in the K-S4 Agenda.

3.1

School plans are to focus on improving learners' success and furthering the six priorities.

Supporting Inclusive Schools: School-Based Planning and Reporting: A Framework for Developing and Implementing Annual School Plans and Reports has been released to school communities.

Regional workshops to support improvement in planning continue to be provided.

3.2

Information exchange is being facilitated on effective school and divisional planning

The department has developed and distributed templates that schools and divisions can use for reporting information. Schools and divisions report annually on their priorities and the department reports collated results. Department staff review and consider information from the school and division plans in departmental planning.

3.3

Schools and divisions will be expected to report publicly on a range of student success measures.

Schools were expected to start reporting to their school communities for the 2002/2003 school year. Divisions are expected to start reporting for the 2004/2005 school year. These reports are intended to complement the public reports on provincial student performance released by the department.

Further Action:

The department continues to provide professional learning opportunities related to educational planning.

Results from the school and division plans will be included in the departmental planning process in a more formal and integrated way.

Divisions begin reporting to their communities at the end of the 2004/05 school year.
