Manitoba Education is pleased to present the finalized Curriculum Frameworks of Outcomes for the Arts Education disciplines of:
- Dance: Kindergarten to Grade 8
- Drama: Kindergarten to Grade 8
- Music: Kindergarten to Grade 8
- Visual Arts: Kindergarten to Grade 8
Implementation of the new arts education frameworks is mandatory from Grades 1 to 8 in Manitoba schools, beginning in the 2011-2012 school year. Manitoba schools may offer one or more individual arts disciplines: dance, drama, music, and/or visual arts. Schools have the flexibility to choose the number and combination of arts disciplines appropriate for their local context, resources, and needs. The number of arts disciplines offered in a school will depend upon available resources, allocated instructional time, staffing, and the arts implementation approach used in the school.
Arts Education Learning Resources
Arts Education recommended learning resources are available for:
- Dance: Kindergarten to Grade 4
- Drama: Kindergarten to Grade 4
- Music: Kindergarten to Grade 6
- Visual Arts: Kindergarten to Grade 4
The Arts in Education
This statement on the arts in education was developed at the request of Manitoba Education as an initial step in renewing provincial curricula for the Arts.
