Keynote Speakers 2008
The Aboriginal Education Research Forum is very pleased to present two well known and widely respected educators and promoters of Aboriginal culture as the Keynote Speakers for this year's event.
Dr. Marie Battiste, a member of the Potlo'tek First Nations in Nova Scotia, is widely renowned for her work as an educator and researcher. Dr. Battiste has a rich academic background, has published numerous writings and papers, and is one of Canada's most influential researchers in the field of Indigenous and First Nations education.
Mr. Tom Porter, a member of the Bear Clan, is the Spokesman and Chief Spiritual Leader of the Mohawk Community of Kanatsiohareke (Ga na jó ha láy:gay) in Fonda, New York. Mr. Porter is well respected for his work as a teacher, cultural researcher, author, and his leadership in the restoration and preservation of Native languages and culture.
