Program Description:
Part-time individualized literacy instruction for adults in Transcona and the surrounding area.  One-to-one instruction provided by trained volunteers.  Tutors receive initial training as well as the opportunity for ongoing, specialized training.  Small group opportunities are available. Drop-in literacy stages program: up to 15 hours of programming available each week in a variety of time slots, days and evenings.

Program Description:

The centre offers high school credits to allow adult learners the opportunity to earn a Mature Student Diploma, or for employment/post-secondary requirement or upgrading job skills.

Program Description:
The UFCW Training Centre is a labour-run adult education and training centre funded through an education and training trust fund negotiated with employers in collective bargaining.  The centre serves members, retirees, family and friends of UFCW Local 832.  The Winnipeg Centre has six classrooms, two computer labs, a computer independent learning centre, a Career Transition Resource room, and a break room.  The Brandon satellite facility includes two classrooms, a computer lab and a break room.  Courses in rural areas across Manitoba are held in partnership with community colleges or school divisions.

There are five main program streams: Mature Student Diploma program, Continuing Ed – non-credit, Career Transition Service, UFCW Shop Steward Diploma/Health & Safety Committee training and UFCW Workplace/Custom training.

The Mature Student Diploma Program is offered in partnership with Winnipeg Technical College and features small classes.  Certified teachers are experienced working with adults and are familiar with the challenges associated with coming back to school as a working adult.  Additional credits are offered for heritage language proficiency, through Student Initiated Projects, independent study or PLAR.

Non-credit courses include a range of Microsoft computer classes, EAL classes, Safe Food Handling, literacy, French and Spanish.  A variety of health and wellness courses are also offered including CPR/First Aid, Boat Safety, and Pilates.

Program Description:
Urban Circle Training Centre, Inc. is a non-profit, charitable, community-based Aboriginal organization whose purpose is to provide Aboriginal people with holistic, culturally relevant, laddered education and skill-specific training targeted to job market demands, employment and economic empowerment.

Urban Circle offers certified training in stage 3 literacy (Adult Basic Education), Mature Grade 12 Diploma as well as post-secondary education as in a Para Educator Program, Health Care Aide/Health Unit Clerk Program and a Family Support Worker / FAS / E Program all in which are delivered in partnership with Red River College and the Province of Manitoba.

Provides EAL training to eligible landed immigrants. Clients must have a Benchmark Assessment from Manitoba Labour and Immigration.
